Denton Main Street Spring Open House this Saturday, May 5th

Saturday 12:30 (after the Spring Fashion Show!!!) to 4 PM, on the West Courthouse Lawn, I will be doing Spring Portraits for kids. Garden Gate is providing some GORGEOUS spring flowers for the background. This is a great opportunity to get a cute spring portrait of your children for a very affordable price and without a huge print commitment. The price is $20 for a sheet of [1] 8×10, [2] 5×7′s, or [1] 5×7 + 4 wallets (additional sheets are discounted).

Pictures can be picked up at the studio, or shipped for a small fee.

A rush fee may be added if you would like your images before Mother’s Day, this applies only for pick up.

Cash and credit cards (no checks, please) will be accepted at the festival.

Denton Main Street’s Fashion show is a bi-annual event with all the stores open and TONS of great deals, give-away’s, treats & and beverages, free samples, you name it. This year features a “VIP card” that you can get if you attend the Fashion Show on the square at 11:30. The VIP card can then be stamped by each participating store listed on the card, and then entered into a drawing for a HUGE gift basket, with gifts from all the participating stores. It’s a pretty fun time, and there are even things to do for the kids…like a bounce house, I *think* face painting (don’t hold me to that), and the Spring Portraits with me, of course! And as always…candy and ice cream, right??? So support your local and unique Denton stores and enjoy the summer-like weather by coming downtown this weekend for the Spring Open House, and may I recommend parking in the Verizon lot on West Oak. Heehee

In contrast to the brothers posted previously, I present to you three beautiful sisters. Full of so much energy and personality and big hair and blue eyes, that getting them to stick their sweet little faces together for this photo was quite a feat. Oh so worth the effort though. The little one (and the craziest of the bunch, don’t let her sweet face fool you), pulled up her sweet little hand at just the right moment. I think it’s the cherry on top. Would seriously love to steal these kids, mom says they’re a package deal.

These brothers had a timeless quality to them that I knew would make beautiful portraits. The beautiful Las Colinas canal and a cloudy, quiet morning made a kind of surreal backdrop to the holiday session. Testing out my new, very long lens, I was able to get pretty far back and let the boys interact naturally with each other. So sweet! I love how protective they are of their baby brother, who was quite the ham (as most baby brothers are). Many thanks to the W family who won on my auction donation to the Denton Country Club’s Ladies Golf Association’s (DCCLGA) American Cancer Society Golf Tournament. It has been a pleasure

Michelle & Stephan “Deutch”

My beautiful, awesome sister-in-law got married, YAY! To a wonderful guy we have been calling Uncle Stephan since we met him…because she knew and we knew that he was *the* guy. So we packed up our ring bearer (rawr) and bubble girl and all my photography gear, and drove down to Austin for an absolutely gorgeous outdoor wedding. The wedding was #2 for them, as they had first tied the knot in Germany, where Stephan is from (they live in the Netherlands) with his family and their friends. Then we got to do it again, Texas style It was a very happy day, what else can I say?

Dentonite : Farmer’s Market!!!

Just because the kids are back at school doesn’t mean summer’s over quite yet. I think the 100+ degree weather is proof enough of that. One of my favorite things about summer here in Denton is our little local Farmer’s Market. This year, it’s grown quite a bit bigger with the Denton Community Co-op, which added a whole host of yummy treats, veggies, fruits, baked goods, handmade items, juice, and even tamales. And there was even live music from local artists!! How cool is that? So for as long as it lasts, we’ll hold on to summer and keep eating that those black eyed peas, okra and peaches, because I just LOVE ME SOME FARMER’S MARKET.

*sniff* I’m getting a little teary eyed just thinking about writing this blog post. Meet Courtney Miller of Sugarspun Photography, who I like to think of as my BPF or Best Photographer Friend. There are VERY FEW days that go by that I don’t spend chatting with her for most of the time about anything and everything, from business and photography to parenting and dieting, and alllllllllll the many things in between. When she rebranded her business recently and needed a swank new set of headshots to go with her new look, I was honored to do them for her. Not only was it lots of fun (minus the sweat) finding her perfect colors all over Denton, but anytime we get together we laugh constantly. And then, of course, we end up at Hannah’s for yummy drinks and lunch. Perfect, perfect day. The awesome picture of my drink is because I had my camera with me, I don’t typically take stellar shots of cocktails…and it is included because it was wondddderfulllll.

Anyway. Courtney, you’re beautiful…I hope you can see that Thanks for being such an awesome friend. I heart you the most!

Denton Child Photographer : Mister A Grows Up

Oh this boy. Insert LOUD SOBBING. One of my first baby planners and now an official “graduate” (although I will officially go nuts if they don’t come back). He’s my angel wing super chunk baby, my drooly little rockstar, my so sweet you can’t handle it, Mr. Big Blue Eyes, and if you walk into my studio, he’s the first thing you’ll see on the wall. In a nutshell, LOVE THIS KID!

So now he’s 2 and can do big boy stuff like play baseball (seriously, he plays baseball better than I could attempt to play baseball…this kid is going to be a pro!) and ride a horse and man can he POUT if he wants to (see below), but it’s all for show. I don’t think he has a thing in the world to be upset about. This boy has two of the best parents I’ve ever seen. As far as they’re concerned, Mr. A has hung the moon, and I’m sort of inclined to agree.

Gah. Two.

Denton Newborn Photographer : Sweet Baby Boy

This little boy is loved and as sweet as they come. We hung out a while and had a chat while he was awake, talked about his foot, which he showed me repeatedly. It’s super cute, by the way. We worked pretty hard to get him to sleep, but it was worth it for the shots we were able to get. Mr. A is a baby planner, so I look forward to getting to see him grow. Grow, baby, grow!!!

Fort Worth Senior Photographer : Little Drummer Girl

I’ve been photographing S since she was in middle school and now she’s a graduating senior. Ack. It’s like watching a baby planner grow from newborn to chasing them around a park, only with less crying and diapers. And also, this one drove me around in her AWESOME PURPLE CAR at the end of the session, and most baby planners don’t do that sort of thing either. Due to the summer heat, we had to split this session up into two parts…half in the beautiful (hot) Fort Worth Botanical Gardens…fighting the bugs and the po-po (we won!), and half in the air conditioned loft back in Denton. Sweet! I love the variety we can get from doing a little bit outdoor and indoor from the same senior session.

Now let’s talk about redheads. We’re fun people. We can do fierce model look (observe), but it’s all a farce…we’re laughing on the inside and it only lasts a few seconds. This one is all smiles and sunshine. And she can drag a bass drum up a huge flight of stairs, so she wins extra awesome points. I’m not going to go into her Harry Potter thing because I don’t want to show my ignorance on the matter, but I’ll just say she’s a big fan.
