The RGP Blog bio picture

Welcome to the RGP Blog

You may have noticed that it looks a little different, hopefully better! Robin Gansle Photography is getting a facelift! I've got a new studio & office, a new website (in the works), so it's only fitting to have a new blog design to round it all out. Bookmark this page and check back often, I'll be posting recent sessions, announcements, special offers, contests, and even some pics from my own crazy gang. And if you're visiting, please comment! I love to hear from everybody!

Just in case you're a new visitor, here's a little bit more information about me. I am a Denton, Texas area photographer, specializing primarily in high school seniors, with a good amount of kids and babies thrown in for good measure. I have always been a natural light, on-location only photographer...that is until just recently when I decided to add in some studio work. While my passion is still for natural light photography, I have found that lights and backdrops can produce beautiful photos, too! My new studio, located just a bit off the square in historic downtown Denton, is tiny and best suited for closeups (or full sized for little ones). It is, in a word, "cozy". I hope you'll stop by and see it sometime!

My style? Well, my shooting style is very natural and laid back. I have some tried and true things that I love to do, but mostly I just follow your lead. I like the fun kids, the outgoing kids, the shy kids, the moody kids, the smiley kids, and just about everything in between. I pride myself in being able to find and capture your personality (on film, at least). My picture style is kind of harder for me to sum up. My senior style and my child/baby style are pretty different, but ultimately, I want your pictures to look like they came from a magazine. Natural, beautiful, with just a bit of glamor. I find that both my shooting style and my picture style evolves with every session...and that's exactly how I want to keep it!

Denton Senior Photographer : Act One

This is T’s year, I mean it’s REALLY her year. She has achieved more in her 18 years than a lot of people can claim in a lifetime. She did more in the hours before her session with me than I did all weekend. It’s kind of humbling, really. She’s also kind of a nut…so that helps even things out.

So I stalked her a little, in a TOTALLY professional way. In that..I’d reeeeeeeeally like to be your photographer, but I don’t want to make this weird kind of way. It’s awesome when things work out like that.

T and her lovely mom are doing the two part senior session, the Try-To-Squeeze-It-In-My-Schedule-I-Dare-You that I’ve done once already this year. That’s ok, because we got some great pictures in the studio last night, and we have a FUN session on the square to look forward to in a couple of weeks. I’m sure I’ll have more to write on that post, so I’ll wrap this up here with a big THANK YOU for going against the herd, T!

Denton Maternity Photographer Robin Gansle : Beautiful

This mom-to-be was quite simply…beautiful. Radiant. Very comfortable in her pregnant shape, which is always miraculous. Such a big boy inside such a petite frame, but yet he fits. I am a very lucky lady to get to see the before and after.

This was a very classic maternity session, with almost all of the emphasis being on the shape and the expression. My favorite! Thank you, K…I hope you and your husband love these.

Denton Wedding Photographer Robin Gansle : Nice Day for a White Wedding

I struggle to come up with blog titles like you would not believe, but this one could not be more fitting. The clouds literally parted, the warmth for this unusually cold winter we’re having was unseasonable…even for a Texas January. Someone was definitely smiling down on the beautiful wedding of Candace and Austin yesterday. They are blessed with more than just nice weather for their wedding day, though. Surrounded by so many people who clearly love them, they have begun their lives together with a palpable love for each other. I wish you both the best as you begin your journey, and I am so grateful to have captured your beautiful day for you yesterday.

In the interest of keeping this blog PG, I won’t show pics of the decorated truck. :D

Denton Photographer Robin Gansle : Zooooooooom

3 year old boys are fast!  I’m aware of this, of course, but still…we’re talking fast-fast.  Mom & Dad and Speedy came to the studio for a family maternity session this morning.  We got lots of great pictures of the belly (it’s a girl!!!!!!), and occasionally big brother would zoom in and out for a quick shot.  I can’t wait to finish your gallery, L!  You’ve got the most perfect baby belly!

Denton Photographer Robin Gansle : Oh these eyes!!

I could see her big beautiful eyes before she was even all the way up the stairs, and oooooh do I love big eyes!! Mom had warned me that she was going through a bit of a stranger-anxiety phase, but I didn’t see any of that today. She did great! And when she was DONE it was time for us to be done anyway, so that worked out just fine. I can’t wait for you to see all of these, Mom & Dad…but here’s one of your gorgeous little Z for tonight. Thanks for driving out from Plano for your holiday session!

Denton Photographer Robin Gansle : Perfect Match

“D” approached me recently about a session with her husband and doggies, and I think it was my fastest inquiry-to-booking ever. We clicked - she likes my style, I like her down-to-earth humor that’s very similar to my own. Chemistry, baby! Oh yeah, and we let her husband hang out with us too. I introduced them to the beautiful Old Alton bridge in Corinth, a favorite spot not only of mine, but of many photographers, fisher…uh…men, and random tourists. And kids. I was able to stake our claim after another photographer finished, and it was well worth it! I just love the warm, vivid colors on and around that bridge.

I hope you guys love the pictures we got today, and I can’t wait to show you the rest! Hopefully we’ve got more than a few options for *the* spot.

I was THRILLED to see I managed to capture this one…all eyes, in focus, on me. The rest is gravy, baby!

Fort Worth Baby Photographer Robin Gansle : LOVE!

I have a whole lot to write, but no brain power left to do it. Suffice to say, this session was perfect. Meet baby “A”, 3 months of sweet, squishy love. Thanks Mom & Dad! I’ll write more later :)

Ok…adding a little more content! This little guy definitely deserves some content. He arrived 6 weeks early and spent some time in the NICU, so did not get to have professional newborn pictures done. That didn’t stop his parents from signing up for the baby plan, though! I’m lucky enough to get to see A every 3 months and watch him grow. And grow and grow!! He’s a BIG boy and reminded me so much of my own little chunk that it made me a little sad. I got over it though…mostly.

He was a sleepy boy, and even though Mom & Dad were worried about the variety we’d get with so many sleeping shots, I think we did just fine. If only I could bottle some of his sleepy mojo for use at my next newborn session.

Thanks for your patience, K. I am almost done with the editing, so here’s one more for you!

Grapevine Senior Photographer Robin Gansle : Mustang Sally

Meet “B”, who has to have the most awesome smile I’ve ever seen. She also has big huge Liza eyes (do they still say Bette Davis eyes? Are we on to Miley eyes by this point??), which makes my job of finding the light in them easy peesy! And she just happens to be the first client shot at my new loft studio in downtown Denton.

I first shot B’s little sister, and then all of the girls, last year. What a beautiful bunch of sisters!! This year, B is a senior at Grapevine, so YAY I got her all to myself!! I always have a blast with this family, the mom is much more like a big sister, and the three of us were laughing the entire time. Well almost the entire time. B has a habit of immediately going serious the second I lift my camera. We got her to stop by the end of the session though, so that I could capture some of her beautiful, natural smiles :)

There will be more to come of B as we have a second half of her session to finish outside now that the sun has reappeared.

Denton Photographer Robin Gansle : Holiday Mini Sessions!!!

I know what you’re thinking…it’s 98 degrees out! Holidays?? Surely you mean Labor Day! You’re so crazy (smart, attractive, etc.), Robin!! This is where I agree wholeheartedly with all of the above, yet point out that the holidays really ARE right around the corner. They seem to come faster every year, and I’m totally not sure what that’s about. But I digress! THIS year I’m wising up and offering my RGP Holiday Mini Sessions a little early to avoid the last minute crazies on both parts. Here’s the pretty official ad:

Yes, I am doing a studio set up for these this year! It will be super quick and painless for the [Dads] less-enthusiastic members of your family, but still give you fantastic family and/or child portraits and the best quality custom holiday cards that you expect. I am renting a large room at the Oakmont Country Club in Corinth and taking reservations in 20 minute blocks. You will pick the card style either when you book or at the session itself.

For those that just really like the outdoor sessions for their holiday card, don’t worry! I am still offering holiday mini’s for you guys, too. The outdoor sessions will be $250 for 30 minute sessions on location within a 30 mile radius of Denton, and all of the same goodies.

All sessions will be scheduled on a first come, first serve basis. Oakmont CC will be placing the ad in their own newsletter, so I expect spots to fill up fairly quickly. We will be shooting from 10 AM to 4 PM and then they kick me out.

Please share this with any local friends and family who you think may be interested! I hope to see you there!

p.s. Watch for pictures of my NEW STUDIO in the very, very new future. WOOT!!

Denton Photographer Robin Gansle : Tea in the Park

I’m no going to lie. Most child photographers have the dream client, and it involves two gorgeous little girly girls who want to play dress up and go along with all your crazy photographer ideas. The extremely humorous and serendipitous way that I stumbled upon (almost literally) Mrs. S was just the beginning. When I found out she was looking for a photographer for her 2 daughters, I had to pinch myself. Seriously? I am not a lucky person by nature, but I majorly lucked out this time! I had a great time in the park with the S girls and mom and dad, it was a BEAUTIFUL day, and we were able to stake out a major portion of TWU’s Little Chapel in the Woods park by virtue of the insane amount of furniture & props I brought to the session. Not to mention the closet worth of clothes for the girls. Oh and the snacks. SNACKS! Sorry, I get a little excited about snacks still :)

So we tried very, very hard to get some good family portraits. I think we succeeded, but it’s all in the definition of “portrait” really. Did you know that almost 2 year old girls are every bit as fast as almost 2 year old boys?? Zoooooooooooooooooooooooooom. And big sister had a lot of spinning she needed to do in that skirt, it’s certainly not going to twirl itself. Thank goodness there were snacks!!

Thank you for trusting that I wasn’t a completely aggressive salesperson, and rather, just facebook challenged, K! I hope you enjoy these as much as I enjoyed taking them.
